Russell C. Banks is an American artist with a degree in photojournalism from the University of Texas, Austin. His work has been in numerous group and solo shows, is in many organizational collections and has appeared in several online and print publications.

Russell Banks explores the humors and ironies of life, the ambiguous moments, and how we pursue our fantasies and pleasures. He creates images that combine precise timing with careful composition and visual clarity. The environment surrounding the people in his photographs is more than just background--it's vital in the narrative. These characteristics are evident in Russell's body of work entitled "Floating World," now on exhibit at the Robert Anderson Gallery through March, 2026. This unique body of work, created over several years on gigantic cruise ships, focuses on the dream versus the reality of cruising.
